a belated thank you to peter von poehl and windmill, who toured with
us abroad. lovely chaps and gorgeous music. check them both out on the ‘space (you know the one…)!
and while we’re on the topic of the ‘space, another thank you for the
amazing, amazing messages. so sweet and so appreciated.
and while we’re on the topic of media in general, here are a few of
the films i caught over the holidays. all of them come recommended
for one reason or another. newfound appreciation for a young sissy
spacek/martin sheen combo and a renewed appreciation one of my
favorite fonts, to name a couple.
happy 2008. what are your resolutions?

Happy new year Annie. My resolutions ? Quit doing drugs. Being serious. Find a real job.
AND YOU ? Good thing to ask us about our resolutions, but you could tell us yours, huh ? ;)
As I saw you like Jean Cocteau, and as I’m a french person, I just wanted to ask you if you speak french – I mean, if you can read a french author in his own language. Would you please do me that favour ?
About Cocteau, I made one of his sentences the slogan of my blog; “J’aime les chats car il n’y a pas de chats policiers” (I love cats, because not any cat is a policeman).
I already told you, but, anyway: I love you Annie.

A new year’s resolution? To make some great, honest music. Your album is a big inspiration, on that matter.
Happy 2008!

What are the first two movies? I can’t recognize them from the pics.
Cameron 14 January 2008, 17:48
I’m pretty sure the first movie is ‘Badlands’.

Annie,
A friend just pointed me in your direction and I have to say your album is fantastic. Quite a wonderful way to start the new year.
Hope to see you down south one day!

Is there any way to get the DUMBO Session version of Your Lips Are Red? I enjoy the LP version, but this one throws sparks!

Annie.
Greetings from Canada. I was in Toronto for the HOTDOCS filmfest but couldnt get tickets to see Helvetica due to the popularity. I’ll be coming all the way from Ottawa to see your Bowery Ballroom show. Any tour dates in Canada in the future? Pay us a visit.

Happy 2008 Annie! I don’t make resolutions so I can’t answer your question, but even 26 days later I guess it’s never too late to send you New Year greetings.
Loving your music here in Argentina, I’m sad I’ll be missing your NYC show for a few days but maybe I’ll see you down South here someday, one can only hope.
Love-

I’ve heard some of your music recently, and it’s nice, but don’t you think you should have a band called the Grenadines?
onymous 26 January 2008, 06:56
hi! thank you! the movies are, in fact, “badlands,” “crazy love,” and “helvetica.”
also add to the list, “heaven.” this 1987 film was directed by diane keaton and is amazing on alot of levels.

annie, if you like badlands check out malick’s other films (he’s only directed five ever and they are all magic) – i especially love thin red line and the new world. if you have a chance also check out my favourite film of all time, spirit of the beehive . Keep up the amazing work – can’t wait to see you play in London again… xo

I suppose it’s too late to tell anyone my new yr’s resolution. Well maybe not because I’ve got the whole yr right? Anyways, I was hoping that maybe if I told you mine maybe you can tell me yours. Do you even have anything to resolve? It sure doesn’t look like it. Anyways, I’ve made it my main focus to focus on my musical and skateboarding talent. Because I get so many compliments from friends, family and strangers. And I don’t want to work underneath someone anymore. But that’s mandatory isn’t it? Cliche of me? I don’t think so. A calling for something bigger I believe. You may be thinking “shouldn’t you have accomplished that already?’ Well life is hard and unmotivated. But I feel all that is changing this yr.

Also, that girl on the top looks like a girl I hooked up with at a party. Redheads are something else aren’t they?
