does anyone remember watching “tales from the crypt” in the mid 80’s? there was one particularly episode that really stuck with me, where a black oil slick/blob was overtaking teenagers with feathered bangs in a nearby lake. kids would be out there, feeling fun, all beers and bikinis and speedos, and then BAM! black blob. slimed. screams. quelle horruer!
there’s no real tie-in. except that my new record is coming out may 5th. it’s called “actor.” if you loved that obscure “tales from the crypt” episode from 1987…then i hope you’ll enjoy this new record. many thanks, much love. XXXXXXXXXXXXX—ac

my friend, amanda palmer’s, record came out a couple days ago. we do a kooky duet of rogers and hammerstein’s abusive classic, “what’s the use of wonderin’.” yay! buy/stream/google/download/ichat/youtube/yousendit.
also, please media, camille paglia, stop calling sarah palin a feminist hero. it’s too distressing/depressing.

6 favorite things at this moment:
1) daniel hart tracking mad violins on his 32nd birthday. that’s like a birthday present to all of us.
2) hbo’s smash hit series “the wire.” all seasons. all characters. especially omar (duh.)
3) seeing a pack? gaggle? of wild turkeys cross the yard after a storm. nature. how foreign to me. we of the city race are at first extremely suspicious, then giddily awestruck by the natural world.
4) such soft spot for david mamet. so pragmatic! so economic! shotgun dialogue! screenplays and theater theory for the new american recession.
5) the south. i like my sweet tea cut with regular tea and my peanut shells thrown on the floor. maybe i’m just a country girl at heart.
6) patton oswalt’s “black angus” routine. it stretches far beyond comedy. omg.
i hope everybody’s safe and happy.

thank you all for coming to castle clinton. i couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful day to debut lots of new material. thanks for your multicolored sunshades.
you know who has a really sweet blog? el perro del mar. that’s the way a blog should be done.
in norway we met a girl from a town above the arctic circle. she reminded me of the werner herzog film “encounters at the end of the world” about antarctica.
going into the studio in a couple weeks. like going into battle with a dragon. hopefully i’ll emerge triumphant with the head of beast…and some pop classics for the whole family to enjoy.
